PCMD Internship Program 2025 under the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi, has announced a special Internship Program for Medical and Dental Students. About the Program
The objective of the PCMD Internship Program is to enable students to gain early proficiency in conducting clinically relevant research, formulating scientific questions, applying research methods, and interpreting experimental findings. Participants will work under the guidance of experienced scientists and researchers, learning how to design and execute laboratory experiments while exploring cutting-edge developments in biomedical science.

The ICCBS is among the top research institutions in the developing world, consisting of two main centers — the H.E.J. Research Institute of Chemistry and the Dr. Panjwani Center for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research. As a WHO Collaborating Center and UNESCO-affiliated organization, ICCBS has earned global recognition for excellence in scientific innovation and has twice received the Islamic Development Bank Prize for being the best scientific research institution in the Islamic world (2004 and 2010).

Eligibility Criteria
- Final-year students of M.B.B.S. or B.D.S. programs and recent graduates are eligible to apply.

- Letter of recommendation from the Head of Department
- Updated CV

Important Information
- The last date to apply is November 02, 2025.
- Selected candidates will undergo a 4-week internship and will be placed in various departments of PCMD.
- No stipend or payment will be provided to selected interns.
- Interns will receive guidance and training from senior scientists working in molecular medicine, pharmacology, and bioinformatics.
- The program aims to generate research interest among future doctors and healthcare professionals by exposing them to global standards of medical research.
About PCMD and ICCBS
Established in 2004, the Dr. Panjwani Center for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research is one of Pakistan’s most prestigious institutions working to advance the fields of molecular medicine, pharmacology, and drug development. It operates under the ICCBS umbrella, which includes six prominent research centers recognized as Sindh Government Healthcare Research Centers by the Provincial Minister of Health and Population Welfare. These centers focus on genomics, virology, traditional medicine, bioequivalence studies, and clinical research.
Through this internship, medical and dental students will gain exposure to real-world laboratory environments, learn about current health challenges in Pakistan, and participate in studies aimed at improving diagnosis, treatment, and disease prevention.
