Introduction

1. National University of Technology (NUTECH) is a federally charted technology
   University, which covers all eight levels of education as per National Qualification
   Framework (NQF). The vision of NUTECH is to produce industry focused leaders of
   character in both higher education and technical and vocational streams. NUTECH
   Institute of Technical and Vocational Skills (NIVATS) is the constituent institute of the
   University, which conducts level 1-4 short courses of technical and vocational stream.
2. National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) is the
   regulatory body at federal level and issues policy directives for matters related to
   Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). Polices and directions given
   by NAVTTC on TVET are implemented and followed at all institutes imparting TVET
   education. This policy lays down the procedure for admission of students in different
   short courses being conducted at NIVATS and are in line with the policies of NAVTTC.

Admission Criteria

Technical and vocational courses are based on Knowledge, Skills and Attitude
(KSA) of a trainee to learn and acquire a particular skill. There is no fixed educational
background for acquiring any particular skill which can be specified and it varies from
course to course. However, a few hi-tech courses (like Artificial Intelligence, Robotics,
Cloud Computing etc) require some educational background to understand the course contents.

Following admission criteria will be followed for admission in short courses at
NIVATS:-
a. Educational Criteria Following educational criteria will be applicable for
admission in technical and vocational courses at NSDD-NIVATS:-
i. A candidate must meet minimum educational criteria as per
requirement of a particular course.
ii. Educational criteria will be approved by the Competent Authority
keeping in view the course contents and level of difficulty /
understanding to comprehend the course contents. For example,
minimum educational criteria for a six months duration level 3
Computer Graphics (Print) course may be Matric (class 10th pass in
any group) however, for same level and course duration, minimum
criteria of Industrial Stitching course may be Middle level (8th class
pass). For a Computer literacy course, it may be Primary level as
well.
Age Limit The age limit for TCET education is 18-40 yrs however,
above 40 candidates can also apply. However, preference will be given to
those candidates who come within the age bracket and want to acquire a
particular skill and pursue his/her career in that field and contribute towards
socio-economic development of the country.
Interview Admission will be granted based on the performance in
interview, which will be conducted for eligible candidates on a criteria
covering three broad categories which are; Qualification, General
Behaviour and Skills. Each category consists of different points for grading
by Admission Interview Committee (AIC). Total marks are 100 and
candidate who obtains less than 50 marks will not be considered for
admission.
AIC will prepare a list in MS Excel showing marks assessed by each
member of AIC and aggregate marks obtained by candidate during
interview. AIC will forward the hard copy of list along with interview forms
of all the trainees duly signed by Chairperson AIC and all members and
counter signed by Dir NSDD. Soft copy of same list will also be provided to
Admission Directorate
